We are so glad that you’ve taken time to travel to Thailand!

The purpose of this conference is to connect people to people and people to God using internet technology so that everyone everywhere knows someone who truly follows Jesus. Prayerfully we will see God do some amazing things this week and in the months and years to follow.

We decided on the name “MinistryNet” for a few reasons:

Ministry is about both evangelism and discipleship

Net is about both the internet and networking together

This week the topics we cover will be effective for not just evangelism but also discipleship. And although we can connect with each other using internet technologies, there is significant value in a gathering like this: our physical interaction with each other leads to deeper relationships.

Please continue to pray for this conference and for everyone attending. Pray that we will see God’s plan for us more clearly. Pray for a stronger relationship with Him and with others.

This conference is not about technology. It is about people. We are the people who use technology to help connect people to people and people to God.

Thank you for coming.

During our time together at MinistryNet: Bangkok 2007 we would like to ask each country to present to everyone what you are doing with internet ministry.

Since we don’t know who should speak for your country, please decide among yourselves who will share from your country. Please inform me (Rob, the conference coordinator) during registration who will represent your country. Your country presentation will be scheduled as follows according to Areas of Affairs:

16 Apr - East Asia

17 Apr - Africa, Europe, Oceania

19 Apr - South Asia, South East Asia, North America

Please come prepared to share with us for 5 minutes what you and your ministry has been learning and doing. Please pick one or two specific things you have done that have been helpful in ministering to your primary audience. What have these experiences taught you? How could we as a group learn from what God has taught you?

Feel free to prepare ahead of time and use screen shots but please do not rely on internet connection during your presentation.

Thank you! We look forward to hearing what God is doing in your countries.

We are so excited you are coming to Bangkok very soon when we will gather for MinistryNet: 2007 Bangkok. Please be praying for the conference team as we make last minute preparations and for your fellow participants as they travel to Bangkok. Here is some useful information for you:

Please remember to bring your passport. Those who need visas should have that paperwork with them also.

When you arrive at the airport in Bangkok, you’ll go through immigration, pick up your luggage, and then go through customs. Be sure to exchange some currency - you can do this while you’re waiting for your luggage. The currency exchange counters and the cash machines at the airport will give you a good exchange rate. Our hotel also has a currency exchange service. Then proceed to Level 1 of the terminal to catch a metered, public taxi. We suggest you print the directions to our hotel (PDF) in both English and Thai to give to your driver. The cost of a taxi to the hotel will be 200 - 300 Thai baht. Tipping, for taxi drivers or any other service personnel, is not required, but is always appreciated. A tip of 20-50 baht is sufficient.

We are staying at the Radisson Bangkok at 92 Soi Saengcham, Rama 9 Road, Huay Kwang. Their website is www.bangkok.com/radisson; It is not recommended that you drink the tap water at the hotel or in any of the restaurants in town. The hotel will give you a bottle of water per person each day, and you can buy water at a fairly cheap price. Wireless internet will be available at the hotel as a part of your conference fee. You don’t need to pay for this on your own.

After arriving at the hotel, go to the front desk and check in. If it’s late at night, please be mindful that your roommate may already be in the room and asleep! Conference Registration will be in the hallway outside the hotel ballroom from 2 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, 15 April. Our meeting will begin at 7 pm in Ballroom A. Dinner is on your own each night except the 19th when we will have dinner together at the hotel. Breakfast is included with your hotel stay and we will have lunch together on 16 - 19 April. Please see the schedule for more details of our time.

The dress code is casual for the conference, but please make sure you dress neatly and modestly. The meeting rooms in the hotel can be cold, so you may want to bring a jacket or sweater. The weather in Bangkok is very warm and humid. You may want to bring shorts and comfortable walking shoes for our afternoon out on Wednesday. If you’re visiting the royal palace, you will need to have your feet, legs and shoulders covered. On the last evening, we will have a closing banquet; if you like, you can bring a dress clothes to wear that evening.

Other items to consider packing - an umbrella, a swimsuit if you plan to use the hotel pool, your Bible, a wireless-enabled laptop or a wireless card (if you have one) because wireless internet will be available, a power adapter (220 v), and any needed prescription medications. We will have a limited number of laptop computers you can use in our internet cafe if you are unable to bring your own computer.

You will need cash (baht) for the taxi to and from the hotel (approximately 300 baht), dinner each night (except 19 April), and any incidentals you may wish to purchase. When you get ready to leave Bangkok, please make sure that you have 700 baht available for a departure tax, which may or may have been included in the price of your airline ticket.

If you need to reach us before you arrive at the conference, you can email us.

For the latest updates, please check the conference website often or subscribe to the updates.

We are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Today we’d like to show you the current schedule. We’ve created a couple of things that we hope you like.

First, if you want to just scroll the scheduled agenda, you can do that here (note we’ve added a button to the top navigation to get you there quickly).

Secondly, we’re using Google Calendar to organize our schedule. If you have a Google Calendar, you can add the MinistryNet Calendar to yours.
